So I am trying out my new citron yellow skirt (I say new, although it was thrifted, and judging by the label almost fits into the vintage category!).
Warehouse leopard blouse, wide belt. |
H&M cropped jumper, Glassons hot pink singlet, K-Mart neon braclets. |
Unknown striped cardigan, black pashmina. |
Glassons high low sheer top, tan braided belt. |
Matalan peplum top, red beads. |
So my favourite look, and the one most practical for my work day I think is the colour blocking outfit. I have a great colourful bead necklace that would really offset this outfit I think, but alas it is still a month off in sea freight. I tried out the colours advice by NZ Fashion (see below) but maybe it was the hue/tone of my clothing but I just couldn't get yellow with mint, blue of brown right. I do have more grey stuff coming still which I am excited to try together.
The most popular 2012 spring colours, in their various shades and tones are;
Coral - try it with turquoise, mint, black and white, leopard, green or navy
Citron Yellow - try it with turquoise, mint, black and white, cobalt blue, brown, grey
Tangerine - try it with pink, black, lighter shades and golden jewellery – (best next to the skin if you’re olive or tanned)
Kelly Green (wonderful name isn’t it!) - black, navy, white; and
Mint - try it with yellow, pink, teal, navy, stripes
Remember if you aren't feeling brave enough to do a whole outfit splash of colour like this picture above (Trelise Cooper's current shop window), try out an accessory (bag, jewellery, belt, scarf) or even just a peak of colour with a coloured camisole like my friend Lara did during our recent wardrobe make-over.
